Locational potential in Lusatia

Following the recommendation of the "Growth, Structural Change and Employment" commission to phase out lignite mining and power generation, the aim of the project was to analyse and evaluate the economic, regional policy, urban and landscape planning situation of the emerging structural change in Lusatia and to identify development paths and potential on the basis of realistic assumptions. To this end, the study provides a broad and, as far as the data situation allows, the most detailed possible overview of the current situation in Lusatia and its sub-regions. This overview covers the areas of economic structure and value creation, the labour market, infrastructure and living space. This is followed by an analysis of integration and cooperation opportunities in the tri-border region as well as the accessibility of the relevant markets from the region and cross-regional relationships. Finally, the endogenous potentials of Lusatia and its sub-regions are again identified and evaluated as finely grained as possible.
