Supervision of Theses & Study Projects

The chairholder and his staff members gladly supervise your theses or study projects. Please get in contact with us

Important information

To simplify the process, we hereby provide a step-by-step list for the entire process of the thesis/study project.

  1. Topic selection and coordination with the supervisors

If you would like to write your thesis at our department, please visit our homepage to see if you are interested in any of the topics advertised. If not, own topic proposals are welcome.

Please visit our website to learn about the individual research focuses of the staff members and then contact the person who best fits your topic focus. It is possible to find both first and second supervisors within our department, or you can search for only one supervisor within our department and a second supervisor from another department or external (this is particularly suitable for interdisciplinary topics).

Please send an exposé of your desired topic with your request. You can find a template for this on our website here.

  1. Registration of the Thesis/Study Project

Once your supervisors have approved the topic, you can register your thesis. You can pick up the registration form at the Student Services, or find it digitally here.

Please note that you must first have the admission requirements for the thesis verified (not for study projects). For this, please contact your respective team at the Student Services. After successful verification, this will be confirmed on the registration form.

For the supervisor's signature, which is required for the final registration of the thesis, please contact Ms. Muschka (madlen.muschka(at)b-tu.de) and submit the fully completed registration form. You may only start working on your thesis after the topic has been issued and the thesis has been registered (this does not apply to the exposé, which you should submit beforehand).

  1. Working Phase

Here you can find the guidelines for Bachelor and Master theses, as well as study projects, available for download. Please utilize these.

If an extension of the due date for your thesis is necessary, you can apply for it at the Student Services. The required form can be found here. Please note that the form must be fully signed (with the signatures of the supervisor and examination board) and submitted to Student Services no later than two weeks before the submission deadline.

  1. Submission of the thesis

Please submit your thesis on time to the Student Services. The exact regulations can be found in the "General Examination and Study Regulations for Bachelor's/Master's Programs":

Bachelor: https://d-nb.info/111473733X/34
Master: https://d-nb.info/1114737348/34

Study Projects are submitted directly to your supervisor!

The date for your colloquium (Bachelor/Master) will be communicated to you by your supervisors via email.
