Learning Outcome: | - BTU students will learn how to organise a workshop for high-school students on the subject of biotechnology in an independent team. In general they will learn to arrange non-specialist lectures and demonstrations, organising scientific events for younger people and other cross-disciplinary participants, and to improve their public appearance.
- After completing the workshop, BTU students will be able to communicate expert knowledge to high-school students in short lectures. BTU students will especially have learnt to adjust to the level of knowledge of a particular audience like high-school students.
|
Contents: | - In order to increase the interest of prospective students in the university, high-school students of grades 10–13 could take part in a workshop on the subject of biotechnology and adjacent topics at BTU. The workshop includes short presentations of BTU students and scientists on current biotechnology topics and short laboratory experiments.
- BTU students organise the advertising at the schools and the organisation of the participation in advance. The tasks of BTU students include the planning and execution of laboratory experiments in a team and the preparation of short handout papers. Each student gives a short lecture (15 min.) to a high-school audience. This presentation will be evaluated.
