Learning Outcome:After finishing this course participants can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, studies, leisure, etc. Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. Can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.(Compare can-do-statements CEFR B1)

Finally, the participants will reflect the English culture in the context of the language course topics and their own backgrounds. After finalizing the module, they will understand main features and conventions of life styles in English-speaking countries.
Contents:Action-oriented tasks for global, selective and detailed listening and reading comprehension, for the production of topic- and situation-related written texts, for topic- and situation-related oral expression as well as exercises for understanding, expanding and consolidating linguistic structures (vocabulary and grammar). Also, learning strategies and tecniques are aquired and trained.

Remarks:
  • This modul especially aims at students in all degree programs, who aspire a semester abroad, and exchange students with an English language competence at level CEFR B1.1. It is not suited for students with a lower or higher English language competence

  • Not more than 20 students can be accepted at each language course group.
  • In exceptional cases, the face-to-face course can be held as an online live session.
