Learning Outcome:The students can the master methods of research in architecture. He/she is qualified, each from one of the following areas:
  • History and theory (construction research)
  • Construction technology, (construction, material, energy)
  • Arts, representation, design, (art)
  • Construction, economy, law (economics and building law)
  • Urban development (urban research) or building science, design, design methods (architectural research) to provide services in the development of research projects.
He/she can generate information from empirical laboratory work or from field and source research. Everyday life experience and phenomenological systematics leads to the collection of knowledge about architectural elements as part of architectural research. The aim is objectivity and repeatability of observations and their representation using architectural methods and in written form.

Teaching Materials and Literature:The tasks as well as information for further literature and independent research possibilities are subject-related and will be announced at the beginning of the semester. The task contains the goal and aim, as far as possible location and surroundings, relevance of the question to be worked on, possible methodology of the solution, the scope and type of the work, the schedule and the content.

  • Processing of a research-related task
  • Presentation of the results
Shape and scope vary depending on the topic.
The students present their work progress on the basis of intermediate presentations and a final public presentation. The number, form and weighting of any partial components are bindingly determined in the first course based on the individual task.
