Learning Outcome: | The students can master complex methods of designing to develop architectural ideas. They are able to use methods that are used in practice in the development of design projects, as well in architectural competitions. They should critically question methods from divergent information sources and generate methods for creative and constructive-artistic work that are conceptually, structurally and economically adapted to the development of architectural objects and the associated urban open spaces. They use scientific methods to generate suitable solutions from relevant information and to recognize whether the selected methods can lead to built architecture. References to well-known buildings are part of the methodology. Current energetic, ecological and climate-relevant influences on architecture can lead to other methods of design. They can use these methods to develop building plans from a design and technical perspective. They are able to describe the basic features of the conception of their methods and to present them in a given period using classic and innovative techniques. They can work individually and in groups. They can present their work results to a group. |
Contents: | Developing and evaluating designs for residential buildings, homes, kindergartens, school and university buildings, office, administration and service buildings, sports buildings and other social buildings, including hybrid uses and including the integration of technical components as conditional systems. Analysis methods for buildings, development of the design idea, design with integration of representation, presentation and model building. |

Teaching Materials and Literature: | The tasks as well as information for further literature and independent research possibilities are subject-related and will be announced at the beginning of the semester. The task contains the goal and aim, as far as possible location and surroundings, relevance of the question to be worked on, possible methodology of the solution, the scope and type of the work, the schedule and the content. |
Module Examination: | Continuous Assessment (MCA) |
Assessment Mode for Module Examination: | 1. Interim presentation 1 - digital model, 20 min. (25%) 2. Interim presentation 2 - digital model, 20 min. (35%) 3. Final presentation including discussion of the results; 20 min. (40%) In the final presentation, the students are expected to submit the following: • digital model or paper plans of their own design • whole model or detail model of the design • documentation of the design |
