Learning Outcome:After passing the course:
  • Students know about different fields of study from a globalised point of view.
  • Students have developed a critical opinion on the phenomenon of globalisation, using the academic tools offered by the professors to form their own opinion.
  • Students can detect the elements and patterns that characterise globalisation and act accordingly.
  • Students understand the challenges and concerns that arise in modern societies and how to address such conflicts.
  • Students have knowledge in a multicultural and transdisciplinary environment, which is so relevant in today's globalised world.
  • Students understand how they can apply what they have learned in this course in their personal and professional lives.
Within this course students are enabled to critically analyze globalization phenomena (analytical competence) and to use e-learning tools (digital literacy). Students are able to organize their learning and working hours independently (self-management competence.
Contents:The module is equivalent to the EUNICE Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) "Introduction to Global Studies" and is designed to provide a significant number of students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge of global issues from an interdisciplinary perspective.

The EUNICE MOOC in Global Studies aims to serve as an introduction to this discipline for those who want to have a first contact with this innovative and emerging field. It covers topics such as economics and business, society and culture, health and sustainability, from a globalised point of view.One of the key elements of this MOOC is that it is taught by professors from 7 Universities, coming from 7 different countries. Therefore, the learning experience will be enriched by the multiculturalism offered by the diverse profiles of the teaching staff. Moreover, being an introductory course, it can be followed by students from different backgrounds and interests. In the context of today's globalized world, this course will help the students to understand the interrelationships created between actors at different levels (local, national, international), and how they can affect them and the people around them.
Students can review the materials and do the assessments at their own pace during the period of course delivery.

After successfully passing the module examination, students receive a certificate.

Teaching Materials and Literature:The learning resources and assessment tools of the course are available at the EUNICE Moodle Platform at the beginning of the semester (link will be published via BTU e-learning platform (moodle-course Global Studies).
Students will have access to
  • video materials, written course contents,
  • further reading materials and
  • an automatic online assessment to get familiar with the course contents and to check their acquired knowledge.
Module Examination:Continuous Assessment (MCA)
Assessment Mode for Module Examination:
  • 10 online multiple choice questions of each topic (8) of the course (50%)
  • written paper, required lengths of 5.000 words, on one of the contents of the online course (50%).

Participants must have worked through at least 70% of the course material and pass at least 60% of the multiple choice tests.
