Learning Outcome: | In this practice-based research project students learn how to communicate and scientifically orient in an interdisciplinary context. In the end they have organized a study project, including a public presentation (a student workshop or an exhibition or a session at a conference). Students learn to deal with complex practice-oriented tasks and to solve them in a step-by-step and goal-oriented manner. The project work can be understood as a methodical step of preparation for a final thesis in which individual interests are also developed and executed in a scientific paper. |
Contents: | In their practice-based research project students learn how to communicate and scientifically orient in an interdisciplinary context. In the end they have organized a study project, including a public presentation and a student workshop or summer school. Students learn to organize and operate together in a research project. By the end of the module students are able to develop research questions within the academic field of Science and Technology Studies. They create and present a design for interdisciplinary research, including the selection of appropriate theories, concepts, media tools and practical interventions (such as excursions). Students will explore various techniques and experimental formats for presenting the results of their projects. Examples may include, but are not limited to, exhibitions, blogs, wiki pages, video-essays, or other multimodal formats. The module requests a a careful co-supervision format to make sure that an interdisciplinary practice-based research happens. At the end of the module a final presentation takes place and students organize an exhibition, a workshop, or a part of a conference together. |
