Learning Outcome:After successfully completing the module, students have in-depth knowledge of methods for analysing text-based, visual and audiovisual formats. They are able to apply these methods in the context of media theory issues and thus gain a deeper understanding of analog and digital media communication. In addition they are able to critically analyze and theoretically model the changing social functions and effects of the media.
Contents:In-depth introduction to the methods of film and text analysis, methodology of media and cultural theory, as well as the philosophy and sociology of new and old, digital and analog media in their various forms and formats.

Module Examination:Continuous Assessment (MCA)
Assessment Mode for Module Examination:
  • Successful completion of an essay of 10-20 pages or practical/project work of correspondending scope (60%)
  • Presentation of a research topic or a project work, approx. 20 minutes (40%)
