Learning Outcome:Rationale:
World Heritage Students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and their success in the interdisciplinary programme depends on the ability to communicate and work in a wide range of academic environments and traditions. Furthermore, it will accompany World Heritage Students through the first semester and provide them with important information on their career development and the mediation of intercultural situations.

Part 1: Preliminary I: Humanities and Social Sciences
World Heritage Studies put a great emphasis on humanities and social sciences thus requiring a sound knowledge of the methods and techniques employed in those fields. They will learn how to work critically with primary and secondary literature and to use those sources for their own academic work. Students will be able to reflect on ideas and arguments and adhere with the formalities of academic writing. Furthermore, they will gain an understanding of methodological and epistemological issues in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

Part 2: Coaching for World Heritage Studies
The second part of the module will be in a mixed form of tutorial classes and a varying number of guest lectures on current topics in World Heritage. Students will get acquainted with a variety of important soft skills including communication strategies, mediation in intercultural encounters, and professional formation. Furthermore, they will be advised on the planning and implementation of their individual.
