Maptegration
"Maptegration" is a project initiated by the Heritage Master's students at BTU that aims to gain insight into the feeling of belongingness and inclusion of the international community living in Cottbus. Throughout the semester, the group of five Master’s students collected visual and narrative stories of authentic integration experiences in the city, mostly reaching out to the student community. All of the collected experiences have been edited and placed on an interactive map of Cottbus, that presents all the stories attached to the places they are connected to. By providing a platform for the international community to share their experiences, "Maptegration" strives to draw attention to the issue of integration in Cottbus, identify pressing issues and challenges, and raise awareness about international inclusion. The students hope that creating a map of experiences can be a first step into using space and social heritage as ways of how issues of integration can be mitigated and challenged with the use of “heritage mindset”.
A selection of visual and narrative stories can be seen in the exhibition on the second floor of the University library from September 2nd until October 11th.
