Faculty and Staff

The chair is temporarily headed by the Dean of the faculty, Prof. Dr. Dr.h.c. (NMU Dnepropetrovsk) Michael Schmidt. More information about him can be found at the websites of the chair Environmental Planning.

Dr. Lutz Laschewski is a contrct lecturer at the chair. From October 2012 to September 2014 he has headed the chair as a visiting professor. After finishing his studies in agricultural science in Bonn he gained his doctoral degree at the Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Afterwards he was holding research and lecturer positions at the University of Newcastle, the Humboldt University of Berlin and the University Rostock. His main fields of activity are the sustainable rural development and the sociology of nature usage. Currently he is the spokesperson of the German Society for Sociology, section rural sociology.

Dr.-Ing. Jörg Becker is a scientific assistant at the chair of Environmental Issues in Social Science since October, 2012. He studied ergonomics at the Dresden University of Technology and wrote his dissertation in St. Petersburg (back then: Leningrad).
At the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg he teaches emission control as well as operational environmental management systems. Furthermore, he contributes to the sociological modules. Mr. Becker is also environmental officer at faculty 4.

Mr. Daniel Häfner (M.A.) is a researcher at the Environmental Policy Research Centre (FFU) of the Free University of Berlin. He is a contract lecturer at BTU and organises seminars about political (environmental) campaigns and energy issues. He is specialised on acceptance for technology and "new social movements". As a consultant he also organises workshops on campaigning and is an adviser to numerous initiatives in question of public relations.
