About me

After a technical high school in Informatics, I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering of Computer Systems, and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering at the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy. My master thesis was in cryptography, more specifically in hardware side channels.

Research Interests

My current research focus on industrial control systems simulation, honeypots, and honeypot detection, but I am also interested in anything related to cryptography and distributed systems.

Projects

I am working at the Energy Innovation Center’s Control Systems and Cyber Security Lab project with a focus on honeypots. In particular, I work on simulating critical infrastructure like energy generation and transmission systems to gather more information on how cyberattacks are carried out. The goal of this sub-project is both to learn about new attacks and to obtain more data on known attacks. In this way we can improve our attack simulators and automatic anomaly detection systems. A positive side-product of this sub-project is the creation of a highly realistic simulator, which can be also used to help test other security programs in a safe environment.
