The Ministry of Science, Research and Culture is planning a reform of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG). This determines in essential points the everyday life in teaching, studying and administration of the universities. The spectrum ranges from the students' right to have a say to the working conditions for employees of all status groups and is therefore of enormous importance for all of us.

In order to contribute to a modern and forward-looking renewal of the state's Higher Education Act, a coalition of Brandenburg labour unions, student representatives, equal opportunity officers and sustainability network has drawn up a list of demands. The goal is to ensure that Brandenburg's universities act in a respectful, responsible and democratic manner. In total, the alliance has identified five categories and formulated suggestions for improvement for the amendment of the BbgHG. In a kick-off event at the University of Potsdam, the topic of "Democracy and Co-determination" has already been discussed, and further events will follow at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) and the University of Potsdam. The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is also participating in this series of events and invites all students, faculty and staff to actively discuss the draft law. Together, we want to emphasize the Alliance's demands in this public event, especially with regard to the demands for "non-discrimination, equal opportunities and diversity" at our universities. Take this opportunity to help shape the future of Brandenburg's higher education landscape! Ask your questions to our guests on the panel, get involved!
