Local fairy tales and global injustices - critical perspectives on hydrogen as a beacon of hope for the energy transition
---->>> Panel discussion with Markus Will (catch-up date for the lecture on 5.6.24) and Lasse Thiele
Lecture from the lecture series "Hydrogen-Future-Lausitz?!"
Officers: Markus Will, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences Institute for Transofrmation, Housing and Social Spatial Development and Lasse Thiele, Konzeptwerk neue Ökonomie
What is the lecture about?
The energy transition hope "hydrogen" is full of local fairy tales and global import logics. The two officers Markus Will and Lasse Thiele will give a local and global insight into a critical examination of the energy transition hope of hydrogen. While hydrogen is often discussed in Lusatia as the new coal, from a global perspective it has more in common with the hype surrounding a new oil rush: the majority of hydrogen in Germany is to be imported from abroad in the future. But what does this mean for the exporting countries? In a panel discussion, the local Lusatian perspectives and the global justice aspects of hydrogen will be discussed. Together, we want to talk about how the global and local perspectives are connected and what a differentiated approach to hydrogen as part of an energy transition might look like.
