Looking to the future at the BTU Open Day

Students, parents, teachers and all other interested parties are invited to the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) on Thursday, April 25, 2024. In addition to intensive insights into the modern range of courses on offer, they can expect valuable information about a wide range of career opportunities after graduation.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cottbus main campus and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Campus Senftenberg, the event combines the comprehensive offers of the Open Day with those of the Future Day for Girls and Boys in the State of Brandenburg. On this day, young people can get to know the variety of training occupations and study options in Brandenburg and especially the study options offered by the BTU.

Open Day featuring Future Day - this is the motto under which BTU's study programmes, including the dual study and Orientation Studies Programmes, are presented.
The BTU currently offers a wide range of study options in 30 Bachelor's and 32 Master's degree programs. The Bachelor's degree courses in Applied Natural Sciences and Business Informatics as well as four international Master's degree courses will be newly established for the winter semester 2024/25.

Starting with information about application modalities, student financing and study conditions as well as the often positively rated supervisors at BTU through to semesters abroad and job prospects, participants will be provided with everything they need to know about studying on April 25. The open day offers the opportunity to experience a real campus atmosphere as well as exciting experimental lectures and modern laboratories, to learn about research topics and also to gain impressions of student life. Professors and students from the various disciplines, including the departments based at the Cottbus-Sachsendorf campus, and other members of the university will be available for discussions and first-hand information.

The program at the Cottbus main campus starts at 9 a.m. in the central lecture hall building with the experimental lecture "Natural sciences explained experimentally"
All daythere will be detailed information on all BTU study programmes and, under the motto "Science you can touch", exhibits and information from all areas of study and research. Participants can look forward to project introductions, presentations and hands-on activities such as "Maths, Physics and AI made easy!", can examine the creativity in model making on the basis of designs by Architecture and Urban Planning students, and gain insights into the mobility of the future, including flying. They also have the opportunity to construct and program small robots and learn about new developments in sports equipment. Tricky tasks have to be solved in the BTU-Escaperoom. In the DLR_School_Lab of the German Aerospace Center, for example, the ISS space station can be explored using VR glasses.
In addition to laboratory tours and experiments, the program also includes guided tours of the Information, Communication and Media Centre (IKMZ). A food truck and the Studentenwerk canteen will provide culinary delights. A chill-out area in the ZHG and free treats from the food truck await stressed-out German A-level writers from 1 pm.

The open day at Campus Senftenberg also begins at 9 a.m. in the Konrad Zuse Media Center with a presentation of careers and career opportunities after graduation in the fields of natural sciences, engineering, teaching and health.
Information will also be provided all day until 2 p.m. on all BTU study programs, including the co-op programme and also using VR glasses. News from the nursing professions and innovations in Nursing Science will be presented. Self-experience can be gained with the age simulation suit. Participants will also learn that Mathematics is much more than just numbers and arithmetic can discover a new dimension of learning in the STEM motivation initiative. Guided tours of the campus are offered, including a visit to the library and through the laboratories of the Institute of Health, Medical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and the microbiology laboratory. The new primary school teaching degree study programme invites students to take part in the regular seminar "How do children learn English?" and the regular lecture "What is school for?". Participants can talk to students over a barbecue in front of the canteen.

The teaching staff, employees and students of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg are looking forward to welcoming many interested visitors to the Open Day and Future Day on April 25, 2024 at both locations.
