Center for Hybrid Electric Systems Cottbus (CHESCO)
The establishment of the Center for Hybrid Electric Systems Cottbus at the BTU can begin with the handover of the first funding decision in the amount of approximately 39 million euros on January 5, 2022. Over the next five years, a further 200 million euros will be invested in the establishment and equipment of the research center.

DLR Institute of Electrified Aero Engines
The Senate of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) established an Institute of Electrified Aero Engines in Cottbus in early July 2020. See the corresponding press release (in German).
DLR Institute of Low-Carbon Industrial Processes
Since 2019, the Institute for Low-Carbon Industrial Processes exists with locations in Cottbus and Zittau. The focus of activities here is on research into technical solutions for the decarbonization of industrial processes in which the heat demand is difficult or impossible to electrify.
