Accommodation

In many university institutions in Germany there is a lack of affordable housing. This is not a problem in Cottbus and Senftenberg. Here you can usually find an apartment near the university easily. On this page the Welcome Centre gives you useful tips on finding accommodation in Cottbus and Senftenberg.

Dorm

In Cottbus and Senftenberg there are dormitories operated by the Studentenwerk and also dormitories operated by private providers. These are all located near the campus. These are mostly furnished single apartments with a private bathroom and a small kitchen. The rents are all-inclusive, all costs except the radio fee and some internet costs are included in the rent. In the dormitories there are separate laundry rooms with washing machines and dryers, for a small fee you can wash and dry your laundry there.
Tip: If you arrive at the beginning of the semester (01.10. or 01.04.), you should apply in good time for a place in one of the halls of residence

International Meeting Centre

International Meeting Centre of the BTU (IBZ)
Cottbus also has a guest house for international scientists, which was financed by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. There are 14 apartments with 1 to 4 rooms in the guest house.

Free Housing Market

You are also welcome to look for an apartment on the free housing market. In Germany, flats are usually rented without furniture. When you advertise an apartment, you should pay close attention to what furniture is available in the apartment. Many flats are rented without a fitted kitchen, i.e. without a stove, oven, sink, refrigerator, washing machine, kitchen cupboards, etc. In the advertisements usually only the cold rent is indicated and an approximate information to the additional expenses (insurance, water, etc.). In addition, there may be costs for electricity, heating, telephone, internet and radio.
In Cottbus and Senftenberg there are several large housing companies, which offer favorable dwellings.
