Travel tips
Close to Cottbus is the Spreewald, one of Europe’s most unique natural landscapes. At the beginning of the 1990s, the area was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The water in the area provides the animals, people and nature of the Spreewald with life. In fact, the many natural rivers (streams) and artificial canals have a total length of 970 kilometres! From Cottbus, it is definitely worth taking a trip to the Spreewald, Burg and Lübbenau.
Between Berlin and Dresden is the Lausitzer Seenland, a spectacular water complex with more than twenty artificial lakes. It was created by the flooding of former mines.
The Lausitzring is a motor sport facility. In addition to car racing, there are also road safety training courses as well as the Lausitzer Blade Night for inline skaters and cyclists.
Although there are no mountains in the Lausitz, you can visit the SnowTropolis Senftenberg for skiing and ice skating fun. From mid-September to mid-April, the ski hall is open from Wednesdays to Sundays from 10 to 21.
