Aviation Forum Hamburg 2023

Together with the DLR Institute of Electrified Aero Engines, chesco presents itself at the Aviation Forum in Hamburg. The theme of the conference is: Building the future of aerospace! The focus will be on digitalization, sustainable strategies and innovations.

The network of test centers for emission-free aviation Cottbus at Aviation Forum

The chesco will present itself at the 13th Aviation Forum in Hamburg. Visit our booth number E11 on December 5 and 6, 2023.
Together with the DLR Institute for Electrified Aerospace Propulsion Systems we will present our testbed network for zero-emission aviation.

Comprehensive testing facilities are a prerequisite to verify the results of research and development towards zero emission aviation and certify them on their way to application and market maturity. A network of test centers is being established in Cottbus by the Center for Hybrid Electric Systems Cottbus (chesco) of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) and the Hybrid Electric Propulsion Test Stands (HepCo) of the DLR Institute of Electrified Aero Engines. The institutions follow an overall holistic approach by building on each other in their very task scope, focussing both on component and system tests.

Europe’s leading aerospace conference

The aviation industry seems to have a bright future ahead, with an increase in passenger numbers and full order books. Nevertheless, this is also where the industry is confronted with significant challenges. Suppliers must manage a steep ramp-up while dealing with shortages of personnel and materials, as well as rising energy and capital expenses. Moreover, the industry is under scrutiny due to global sustainability efforts. To build a sustainable future for the aviation sector, all stakeholders must work together, innovatively, and promptly.

It is widely agreed that the future of aviation must be green. To decrease the ecological impact of air travel, research is being conducted on advanced materials, aerodynamic aircraft designs, new propulsion technologies, and sustainable aviation fuels. Flight routing is also an important aspect in this regard.

Furthermore, the aviation industry can implement measures to decrease its environmental footprint, such as recycling materials, utilizing sustainable raw materials, and optimizing supply chains.

Digitalization still has untapped potential in the industry, and it can enhance operational efficiency, manufacturing processes, and sustainability through data analytics, artificial intelligence, and digitalization technologies.
