In addition to the university structures, CHESCO GmbH was founded in the second half of 2022 as a wholly owned subsidiary of BTU. Under the management of Heiko Witte, the company promotes the transfer of knowledge and technology from the university and strengthens the compatibility of science and research with industry and funding bodies. To this end, CHESCO GmbH will participate as a partner in various research programs and carry out research contracts for industry; the first contract research was awarded at the beginning of November 2023. There are currently around 20 people working at CHESCO GmbH, with 50 employees by 2025 and up to 100 by 2028.
