Accompanying the transformation of a traditional mining town. Social Life and Action in a Lower Lusatian Community

Runtime

01/2018 until 12/2020

Summary of the project results

The project accompanied the residents of the villages affected by the Welzow-Süd open pit mine. People in the resettlement area received advice and support. Socio-cultural activities were also offered for children, young people and the elderly. Situation analyses were used to examine transformation processes from the perspective of social compatibility, taking into account spatial, personnel and social changes. This served to promote a sustainable development plan for the community of Niederlausitz.
