Prof. Dr. Peter Langendörfer received his diploma with the thesis “Evaluation of Systems of Persistent Objects for Realizing Object-Oriented Specifications” and completed his doctoral degree in Computer Science in 2001 with the dissertation “Design of Configurable Code Generators for Automatic Generation of Efficient Protocol Implementations”.
Since 2012, he has held the professorship for Security in Pervasive Systems at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg. In 2013, Prof. Dr. Langendörfer received the Research Transfer Award of BTU Cottbus. Since July 2020, he has been Head of the Chair of Wireless Systems at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.
Until July 2020, Prof. Dr. Langendörfer headed the Sensor Networks and Mobile Middleware group at IHP – Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics in Frankfurt (Oder). From July 2020 until 31 December 2025, he served as Head of the Wireless Systems Department at IHP. Since 1 January 2026, he has been affiliated exclusively with BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, where he heads the Chair of Wireless Systems.
Prof. Dr. Langendörfer has been involved in numerous national and international research projects, particularly in security-related EU projects such as WSAN4CIP, TAMPRES, SMARTIE and StrokeBack, several of which he led. He has chaired international conferences such as WWIC and has served on numerous Technical Program Committees, including Globecom, ICCCN, Trusted and ICCAD. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Access and a member of the editorial boards of P2P Networking and Communication and the IEEE Internet of Things Journal.
His research interests include wireless sensor networks and cyber-physical systems, with a particular focus on privacy, security and resilient system architectures.
