Academic career
  • Ronald Römer studied Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Telecommunications, at the University of Rostock until 1995.
  • This was followed by positions at Siemens AG (semiconductors), Infineon Technologies AG, Temic SDS GmbH, Harman Becker Automotive Systems GmbH and Nuance Communications, primarily in the fields of algorithm development and speech technology.
  • His doctoral studies lasted from 2009 to 2009 at the university of technology in Munich.
  • Since 2011, he has been a teaching and research fellow at the Chair of Communication Technology at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg.
  • From 2019, he took on the role of scientific coordinator for the Cognitive Systems research area and the Lusatian Centre for Artificial Intelligence. 
  • His research interests lie primarily in the fields of semiotic information and language processing, the behavioural control of cognitive machines, and quantum-inspired AI methods.
