Production science laboratory

The Chair of Production Administration has the following software and laboratory equipment:

Autodesk Factory Design (AutoCAD)

We have various Autodesk applications at our disposal and in particular use AutoCAD (Architecture) including the Factory Design Utilities for 2D planning of factories and administrative buildings as well as for the final preparation of planning documents.

Application examples
  • 2D factory planning (rough layout and detailed layout)
  • Integration and collaboration with architects
  • Creation of planning data and documentation

taraVRbuilder

taraVRbuilder is a tool for quick and easy modelling, visualisation and animation of production and logistics systems. The free taraVRviewer makes it possible to view the created models even without a licence. The generated models can be exported as DXF and combined with architects' planning data in AutoCAD, for example.

Application examples
  • 3D factory planning and virtual inspection (validation)
  • Planning and modelling of detailed logistics centres
  • Animation and simulation of material flows

visTable

The factory planning software visTable has an extensive model library, which enables the visualisation of production areas to be planned within a short time. The software also offers options for modelling processes and optimising transport routes.

Application examples
  • Factory planning, simultaneously in 2D and 3D
  • Process modelling and cost estimation
  • Material flow analysis and optimisation

AnyLogic

AnyLogic is a simulation software that supports Discrete Event Simulation (DES), Agent-Based Modelling and Simulation (ABMS) and System Dynamic Simulation (SD). This allows various topics to be analysed in the context of production, logistics and supply chain management.

Application examples
  • Analysis and optimisation of production processes (piece goods and flow production)
  • Development and validation of control algorithms, e.g. for sequence planning / machine utilisation planning
  • Analysing production scenarios or expansion concepts
