Numerical Fluid and Gasdynamics Prof. Dr.-Ing. Heiko Schmidt
The chair of Numerical Fluid and Gasdynamics performs research with a focus in the following areas:
- Development, analysis, and application of efficient stochastic and multiscale approaches in CFD
- Modelling of turbulent single and multiphase flows
Stochastic and multiscale approaches seem to be able to build a bridge between Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) and practical parameter ranges in nature and technical systems.
The group applies the above mentioned techniques in an interdisciplinary fashion. Applications currently encompass (but are not limited to):
- Reactive flows
- Flows with heat and mass transfer
- Boundary layers
- EHD turbulence
- Geophysical flows
Funding of current and past projects was provided by the German Science Foundation (DFG), the Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and European projects as EFRE.
