Skills Lab - Nursing

The Skills Lab is a stationary area with a patient room and preparation room. Here, a variety of care situations in everyday hospital and nursing care can be simulated. Specially equipped nursing dolls, a wide range of nursing materials and medical devices enable trainees to practise personal hygiene, assistance with eating and elimination, injections, changing dressings, positioning and transfers, among other things.

Skills Lab - Intensive Care Unit

The Skills Lab contains work surfaces and materials for intensive care at two realistic bed spaces with infusion technology and vital signs monitoring. The simulation manikins can display various symptoms and offer different programmable functions that can be used to practise responses to emergencies and various nursing measures.

Skills Lab - Musculoskeletal I

Skills Lab - Musculoskeletal II

Skills Lab - Hydrotherapy Bath

Skills Lab - Paediatric

The Skills Lab allows nursing skills to be practised in various paediatric care scenarios, such as bathing, nappy changing, positioning and transferring infants, caring for newborns and older children in hospital beds, and practising breastfeeding positions, thanks to its furnishings and realistic simulation dolls.

An essential element of the anatomy lab are the two virtual dissection tables from Anatomage. With the help of the virtual dissection tables, students in the anatomy lab can learn about the anatomy and physiology of the human body in a digitally supported and interactive way. Virtual dissection tables display anatomical structures in 3D based on real, fully segmented anatomies. The structures displayed can be digitally dissected or visualised layer by layer. Full-body views and partial views can be displayed, as well as animated videos, such as those showing blood flow. Virtual dissection tables are by no means common in teaching at universities or colleges offering courses in therapy, nursing or midwifery. The BTU thus completes the modern and excellent equipment of its teaching and research facilities.

The anatomy lab can be used by all students and cooperation partners of the healt institute.

The purchase of the virtual dissection tables was made possible by a grant based on the guidelines of the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture (MWFK) for the promotion of infrastructure for research, development and innovation from the ERDF (InfraFEI). This funding was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
