Incoming Exchange Students: European Exchange / ERASMUS+

We are very happy about your interest in an ERASMUS+ study at our university. The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg would like to contribute to making your stay abroad an exciting and successful time.

How to become an exchange student at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg?

ERASMUS+: Are you a student at a European partner university of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg? In this case, please apply at the International Office of your home university to study abroad with ERASMUS+. Your home university must nominate you for the exchange at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

FREE MOVER: Are you a student at a university that is not a partner university of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg? In this case, please apply directly to our university in our online application portal.

Nomination and Application Deadlines:

Winter semester / full year (starting October): July 15
Summer semester (starting April): January 15

Here you can find all courses offered at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. In the “Search Criteria” window, you have the option of selecting the language of instruction (German or English), the study programme, the frequency of offer (e.g. every winter semester, every summer semester) and more.

Language Requirements and Application Documents:

1) Certificate of language proficiency

BTU requires every exchange student to provide a certificate of language proficiency in the language of instruction of the selected courses.

For courses taught in German: German level of at least B1
For courses taught in English: English level of at least B1

We accept all official language certificates issued according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

2) Learning Agreement

In order to complete your application, you must submit a Learning Agreement, signed by yourself and your home university. You can use the form that is provided by your home university or the following BTU form: Learning Agreement

3) Please submit a Transcript of records in English (subjects and respective grades that you have obtained at your home university)

4) Please submit a copy of your passport / ID card

Online Application:

Please complete the application form in our online application portal and upload your application documents to submit your application:  BTU online application portal.

Planning your stay at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg:

Once the application procedure is completed and you have received your Letter of Admission, it is time to prepare your stay in Cottbus.
