Application

for Erasmus+

The application is made entirely via our application portal "Placement Online"

Privacy policy for the use of Placement Online

Apply at least 3 months before the planned start of your internship via our application portal.

Graduates must apply in their final year of study.

We will only process your application after you have uploaded the complete Set 1 (Step 1).

Please note: If you submit your application late, the funding period will be shortened.

Information on the application documents

Set 1 (Step 1): Students and graduates (still enrolled)
  • Curriculum vitae in tabular form in German or English (max. 2 pages).
  • Motivation (personal presentation letter in German or English of at least ½ page length): This should include, among other things, the reasons for doing an internship abroad, the reasons for choosing the destination country, your expectations of the internship and the desired outcome, as well as your professional goals, etc.
  • Current list of subjects and transcript of records.
  • Current Certificate of Enrollment, which covers the period of the application phase and the beginning of the internship.
Set 2 (Step 2): Students and graduates (still enrolled)

Forms will be sent by e-mail as soon as Set 1 has been checked.

  • 'Confirmation from the university'. Please enter your personal details, the details of your internship, and the details of the person responsible for internships at your home university yourself, and have the person responsible complete and sign the academic recognition section. Only for students, not applicable for graduates.
  • 'Pre-confirmation/ex-ante'. Please send the form to the internship organization for completion and signature. Upon receipt, please check whether the entries are complete (all fields must be filled in) and correspond to the previous agreements regarding your internship and clarify any discrepancies. Please also check the insurance details provided by the internship organization.
  • 'Academic reference' (letter of recommendation from a lecturer at your home university). This letter is required if you are planning an internship outside the EU. The letter of reference should contain a statement about your academic performance, e.g., in seminars, presentations, examinations, etc.; an assessment of your personality; your general personal suitability for an internship abroad; and, if applicable, other recommendations (e.g., social commitment, active interests outside your chair, etc.).

If you want to do an internship in the 27 EU countries or North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or Turkey, the academic reference is not required.

  • Bachelor's or master's degree certificate and/or certificate of exmatriculation. Please submit before the start of your internship. Alternatively, if you are unable to submit these documents before the start of your internship, we will accept a confirmation from the examination office that you have successfully completed your degree program. For graduates only.
  • 'Declaration of Insurance.' As soon as you have received the "Vorab-Bestätigung/ex-ante" back from your internship organization, please refer to it to find out whether and to what extent the internship organization will insure you on site. You can then refer to our notes on insurance coverage to find out which insurance policies you need to take out yourself.

Insurance cover

Make sure you have sufficient insurance coverage for your stay abroad.
You must provide proof of this to the LEONARDO Office before starting your internship.
