New study programmes at BTU - apply now!

83 future-oriented study programmes are available to interested young people at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU). Two new Bachelor's and six Master's degree programmes will be offered for the first time in the upcoming winter semester 2025/26, half of them in English. Eleven new bachelor's degree programmes for teaching.

New Bachelor's study programmes

Life Science and International Health (Bachelor of Science, English): Natural science fundamentals, the solution of biomedical issues and digital health systems are part of the course content alongside law and social science modules, which optimally prepare students for a modern national and international labour market in the healthcare sector.

Environmental Sciences (Bachelor of Science, German): Students learn to actively help shape the environment and develop practical solutions to current challenges such as climate change, pollution, urban change and resource scarcity. Disciplines include Water Management, Land Use, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability Strategies, Urban and Regional Planning and Systems Analysis.

Primary school teacher training - eleven independent Bachelor's study programmes in various subject combinationscomplement the teacher training courses at BTU from October 2025. The courses with admission restrictions (with NC). Applications can be submitted until 15 July 2025.

New Master's study programmes

History of Art and Architecture (Master of Arts, German): In an interdisciplinary constellation of different chairs that is unique in Germany, students acquire specialised knowledge of Architecture and Art, technological and heritage conservation aspects of building as well as in the field of Cultural Management.

Chemistry: Materials, Engineering and Sustainability (Master of Science, English): Graduates in materials chemistry or process engineering can choose to study with a chemically oriented focus on the characterisation and application of materials. Chemical-technical production processes or energy conversion processes are the focus of a technical specialisation.

Control of Renewable Energy Systems (Master of Science, English): In this EU Master's programme, BTU cooperates with universities in France and Croatia to train top engineers who are needed to achieve European environmental and energy goals as part of the Green Deal. The programme focuses on the development of advanced control technologies for renewable energy systems for all major energy sources.

Mathematics (Master of Science, English):This international study programme places an emphasis on Applied Mathematics. The curriculum covers the typical abstract theoretical foundations of Mathematics methods. At the same time, students learn methods for solving practical research problems in science, technology, data science or finance.

Mathematical Data Science Master of Science, English): Mathematics fundamentals of data science algorithms are complementedby related practical application areas such as artificial intelligence, computational neuroscience, control engineering, cybersecurity or bioinformatics - a degree programme for those interested in data mining, machine learning and critical infrastructure management.

Public Administration (Master of Public Administration, German): The study programme providing further education qualifies specialists for public administration and teaches extra-occupational skills to face changes in the professional environment, to actively shape them or to use them as further training for advancement.

Applications and deadlines for the winter semester 2025/26 at BTU

Prospective students with a German higher education entrance qualification have the opportunity to apply for Bachelor's degree programmes (without NC) until 15 September 2025 via the myBTU portal, for Master's degree programmes (without NC) until 31 August, as well as for the studies leading to certification in Artistic Training for Instruments and Singing.

ATTENTION: The application deadline for the Bachelor's courses with admission restrictions in Primary Educationand the Master's in Biotechnologyis 15 July.
