Key events for the 2026/2027 winter term

The welcome and orientation events for new students will take place between 27 September and 2 October 2026.
Most of the events in Cottbus are organised by OTIWO e.V. with financial support from the BTU Friends’ Association. The Round Table of Student Councils from Senftenberg is organising the many activities on offer in Senftenberg for you.

You can take part in as many activities from all campus locations as you like.

Start of the winter semester 2026/27

Welcome to the winter semester 2026/27 at the Faculty Environment and Natural Sciences at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg!

We look forward to welcoming you to a new semester full of exciting challenges and opportunities.

Courses start on 05 October 2026, so make sure you find out about your lecture and timetables in good time and obtain all the necessary materials. In addition to the Information Portal: Teaching, you will also find all the information you need about the seminars and respective procedures for the semester on the Moodle learning platform. A series of explanatory videos are available for timetabling, exam registration and the e-learning system: The video series"BTU digital" explains the most important aspects of this formal side of starting your studies! You can also take a look at the brochure "Tips for starting your studies".

Don't miss out on the great offers and events during the welcome and introduction week for new students at Campus Senftenberg and Main Campus.  The BTU Senftenberg Students’ Union is hosting a start-of-term party on 9 October 2026.

A series of explanatory videos are available for timetabling, exam registration and the e-learning system: The video series "BTU digital" video series explains the most important aspects of this formal side of starting your studies! And unlike live introductions, you can even pause and rewind.

Among other things, the videos explain how to create your own timetable, the different types of modules and their special features when registering for exams, and how to obtain a Certificate of Enrolment. The videos can be found at the bottom of the central website for the start of the degree programme(https://www.b-tu.de/studium/studienstart/tutorials).

There is also a self-study course for using Moodle. (Attention: Only accessible with a BTU account!)
