Recognition of Examination Results / Credit Transfer

Application Documents

Students must submit a formal application for each examination they have sat at another higher education institution and which they wish to have recognised by the BTU. The form to be used for the application can be downloaded here.

Each application must be accompanied by the following documents:

  • The form, fully completed and signed,
  • Certificate of achievement from the other university, bearing a stamp and signature,
  • Module description from the other university,
  • Examination and study regulations for the degree programme at the other university,
  • For Master’s programmes only: the study plan signed by the mentor.

Procedure of the Application Review

The following procedure ensures that the student is always kept informed of the status of their application review. Irrespective of this, students generally have the option of arranging a consultation with the chair of the Examination Board by appointment.

Step 1: The application must be sent by email to the module coordinator for academic review.

Example: If an examination taken at another university is to be recognised as equivalent to Module 123 in the Department xyz at the BTU, the application must be sent to the Department xyz being responsible for this module.

Once the academic review has been completed, the module coordinator will return the signed application to the student.

Step 2: The student sends the academically reviewed application(s) to the chair of the Examination Board by email for formal review.

Once the formal review has been completed, the Examination Board will return the application(s) to the student.

Step 3: The student submits the application(s), which have been reviewed both academically and formally, to Student Services.
