PSE is concerned with the development and implementation of computing techniques for process simulation, process design and synthesis, process control, and process optimisation. It is more specifically concerned with the analysis, design and implementation of numerical techniques for mathematical process modelling. The processes studied are descriptions of the physicochemical and biochemical mechanistic properties of the systems involved. Overall, PSE is an interdisciplinary field in Engineering that generally considers how complex engineering projects should be designed and managed.
