Learning Outcome:The focus of this lecture is on theoretical and practical introduction into power system operation. For laboratory exercises the facilities of the Research and Training Centre for grid operators at BTU Cottbus will be used.
Contents:Theoretical part:
  • control systems;
  • operation control of power systems;
  • system management planning;
  • security of supply;
  • balancing group management;
  • stability of the system;
  • power-frequency control

Practical part (individual training and team training):

  • detailed introduction into the training system;
  • introduction in handling the control system;
  • training of several scenarios under almost authentic conditions (faults in the grid, overload of grid elements, breakdown of load or generation units, high RE in-feed combined with various load cases);
  • training of communication processes between system operators;
