Learning Outcome:Ability for scientific and/or professional project performance in a self-dependent manner. Application skills for efficient use of hydroinformatics theory, methods and tools in project environments. Engineering skills. Project reporting for scientific and professional needs.
Contents:Students perform a research & development or professional practice project as master thesis work.

The master thesis is an academic examination performed within 5 month during one semester in a research institution, a company or an university (host institution). The topic has to be related to the field of hydroinformatics and water management. The master thesis is documented for academic recognition in a master thesis report with fixed deadline of submission. The master thesis report should describe the given scientific or professional problem(s), solution concepts and approaches, basic theory and application methods and tools, performed working steps, results and conclusions, discussion of future aspects and alternatives.

Seminars with presentations from several master thesis topics and related research and engineering aspects are held during the semester in Cottbus, in the location of the EuroAquae partner universities as well as the location of the master thesis host institutions.

Mandatory Prerequisites:
  • Successful completion of the first 3 semesters AND
  • No successful participation in associated phase-out module 41512 Research and Development Project.
Forms of Teaching and Proportion:
  • Seminar / 2 Hours per Week per Semester
  • Self organised studies / 870 Hours
Teaching Materials and Literature:Depending on the master thesis topic.
References to related teaching material and literature is given by the thesis supervisors and has to be extended by the students in a literature research as part of the master thesis.
Module Examination:Continuous Assessment (MCA)
Assessment Mode for Module Examination:
  • Master thesis report (80%, evaluated by two supervisors)
  • Final oral presentation with discussion (20%)
