Learning Outcome: | Upon completion of the module, students are able to apply specialized theories, methods and tools to analyze the fabric and structure of historic buildings and to evaluate critically and scientifically their material condition and cultural significance. They are able to document and present their findings according to established professional guidelines and standards and can create plans and strategies for the conservation of both tangible and intangible values. |
Contents: | Specific case studies of historic buildings are examined from several perspectives using relevant and specialized theories, methods and tools. Their material condition and cultural significance are documented and assessed critically as a basis for the development of plans for conserving their tangible and intangible values. The material, cultural and social factors involved in the implementation of conservation plans are examined and strategies for effective communication and negotiation as well as creative problem-solving are developed and practiced. |
