Learning Outcome:On completion of this module, students should be able to:
  • Model the dynamics of fundamental components in future power systems;
  • Design local control schemes for decentralized renewable generation sources;
  • Design distributed coordination schemes for intelligent power systems using cooperative control algorithms for complex networks.
Contents:Modeling of power system components and decentralized renewable energy sources; structures of future power systems; decentralized control design; distributed control algorithms; application of distributed control algorithms to power system and microgrid operation.
