Learning Outcome:Upon completion of the module, students are able to analyze urban forms in terms of their origins, historical development and current functioning, as well as understand the guidelines and practices of urban heritage conservation and critically evaluate their application in different contexts. They have a broad theoretical and methodological repertoire that enables them to formulate academic questions in the field of urban history and urban heritage conservation and to work on them independently.
Contents:In the module, different subjects, problems and/or current topics from the broad spectrum of urban history and urban heritage conservation are dealt with in detail, also from an international perspective. These are presented and discussed in academically and methodologically advanced contributions by the students themselves, in some cases on the basis of specific case studies.

Teaching Materials and Literature:A list of current and relevant literature is provided in the seminar at the beginning of the semester.
Module Examination:Continuous Assessment (MCA)
Assessment Mode for Module Examination:
  • Oral presentation, max 30 min – 20% of the final grade
  • Written paper, 15-20 pages – 50% of the final grade
