Learning Outcome: | The module addresses questions regarding transforming planning visions that link with urban transformation. The students are asked to reflect on the disciplinary understanding to plan the cities according to the problems of the cities and to analyse urban transformation as a multidimensional spatial process.
|
Contents: | The module focuses on planning as a system of visions and ideas. Against the backdrop of current debates regarding urban development, the students will discuss German and English papers of the 20th and 21st Century in order to reflect on the planners’ key terminologies (common good, sustainability, inequality). The students will have to design their own empirical research projects that deal with questions of urban transformation. |
