Learning Outcome: | This module teaches the basics of scientific work that are relevant for the courses of study at the Institute of Biotechnology. Students who have taken part in the module are able to:
- apply learned strategies for literature research independently and effectively,
- apply the knowledge acquired for the effective acquisition and processing of information to a literature search carried out,
- apply copyright principles and correct citations to their own work,
- apply the skills learned in work organisation and time management to their own work,
- independently develop a project schedule from a given task,
- apply the knowledge gained about the content and structural requirements in the preparation of their own graduation projects,
- independently create and critically evaluate parts of a scientific work, develop a presentation on a given topic with the help of the acquired knowledge on content and structural requirements,
- use the presentation techniques learned during the presentation

Contents: | - Literature research and processing (search strategies, database search, citation styles, analysis of literature sources, literature management, conducting literature research as an exercise)
- Work organisation and time management
- Preparation of a scientific paper (structure, content requirements, form and typography, drafting of parts of a scientific paper)
- Presentation techniques (structure and content of the presentation, foil design, presentation style, performance of a presentation)
