Learning Outcome:Students acquire the ability to solve a  scientific problem within a limited time budget under the guidance of a supervisor. They use their acquired theoretical and practical knowledge to justify scientifically their solution of the problem as well as their improvements. The development of new knowledge and techniques is a major objective.
They acquire the ability to present scientific facts clearly in written and oral form. Students have acquired practical personal skills related to the degree programme through communicative interaction with members of the working groups.
Contents:-  Guided, mostly experimental work on a complex scientific problem
-  Accompanying study of primary literature on the research topic
-  Participation in literature and progress seminars of the working group
-  Laboratory report on the establishment of the experimental approach for the elaboration of the task and discussion of the first results
-  Preparation of the written thesis
- Colloquium with oral presentation and discussion
Recommended Prerequisites:None
Mandatory Prerequisites:Students will be admitted to the Master's thesis if they have acquired at least 72 CP including the Practical Research Training at the time of registration for the Master's thesis.
Forms of Teaching and Proportion:
  • Self organised studies / 900 Hours
Teaching Materials and Literature:It depends on the individual subject. Corresponding material will be named and provided by the supervisor.
Module Examination:Continuous Assessment (MCA)
Assessment Mode for Module Examination:The grade of the Master thesis results from the thesis, which accounts for 75 percent, and its defense, which accounts for 25 percent.
The presentation and the discussion go into equal parts in the grade of the colloquium.
