Module Title:Artificial Intelligence and Ethics
  Künstliche Intelligenz und Ethik
Department: Faculty 1 - Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
Responsible Staff Member:
  • Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Langendörfer, Peter
Language of Teaching / Examination:English
Duration:1 semester
Frequency of Offer: Every summer semester
Credits: 6
Learning Outcome:

Upon successful completion of the module, students have a fundamental understanding of the ethical challenges arising from the increasing use of artificial intelligence in modern digital systems. They are able to explain key ethical principles such as privacy, fairness, transparency, accountability, and trustworthiness in the context of AI. Students can analyze the social and technical implications of AI-based decision-making processes and critically assess potential risks and benefits. Furthermore, they develop the ability to evaluate AI systems with respect to ethical requirements and to discuss approaches for integrating ethical considerations into the design and development of trustworthy digital systems. In addition, students have strengthened their skills in forming and justifying well-founded positions on ethical questions related to artificial intelligence.
