Learning Outcome: | After completion of this module, students are able to identify and differentiate central areas, approaches and research tools within the interdisciplinary field of Heritage Studies. They have critical reading skills, know a number of key concepts and how to link conceptual ideas to current phenomena in the field of Heritage. In addition, students have basic knowledge about standards in scientific techniques and presentation skills. |
Contents: | The module is divided into two parts: (1) a seminar on the formation of heritage as a concept operating at different spatial, temporal and institutional scales and the emergence of Heritage Studies as an interdisciplinary academic field; (2) a lecture series in which the chairs of the World Heritage Studies program introduce their work areas and provide insights into their research and teaching activities. |

Mandatory Prerequisites: | No successful participation in associated phase-out module 37401 Preparatory Humanities and Social Sciences. |

Teaching Materials and Literature: | Students will be provided with weekly meetings and lectures, reading materials, and bibliographical references. All materials and literature will be provided in a moodle course. |
