Conference Report for "Architectures of Colonialism" online
The international conference "Architectures of Colonialism. Constructed Histories, Conflicted Memories" that took place as an online event from 16 to 19 June 2021 confronted the fields of architectural history, archaeology, and heritage studies with the difficult question of the memorialization of colonial sites and architectures and how we can take a decolonial approach to their history. The presentations from the various disciplines, including history and cultural anthropology, brought together different actors involved in these processes, drew on new archival material, and revealed the complexity of the social networks and historical layers that architectures of colonialism are embedded in, providing a solid foundation for further action in the future.
The conference report is now available online at H-Soz-Kult and can be also found as a pdf file under this link.
