iCampus2

Project duration: 01.01.2022 - 31.12.2026

The Innovation Campus Electronics and Microsensorics Cottbus - iCampus - is a research cooperation on the topic of microsensorics. The iCampus combines the application-oriented know-how of non-university research institutions and the research strength of the university.

The Department of Distributed Systems/Operating Systems is involved in the work packages "UAV-Platooning", "5G-Connected Sensing" and "Animal Monitoring".

In the work package "UAV-Platooning" methods are investigated how groups of drones can explore areas together. Here, swarming behavior is of particular interest.

The real properties of a 5G campus network, using the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg campus network as an example, are being investigated in the "5G-Connected Sensing" work package. Here, research is not conducted on the 5G standard itself, but the implications for users are evaluated, e.g., using the BTU's model factory. The focus of the work package is on latency reduction and data pre-processing below and above the 5G network.

The work package "Animal Monitoring" is part of the second part of the ICampus2 project and will start in July 2024. Here, possibilities will be investigated with which the use of sensor and sensor network technology can complement and support agriculture.
