Berlin Biennale Team in a Field Visit to Cottbus 19.08.2026
As part of a one-day research visit, the team of the 14th Berlin Biennale visited BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg to explore the city and get acquainted with the current research approaches at the Institute of Architectural and Art History. Following an introduction to Faculty 6 and the World Heritage Studies programme, members of the BB14 team presented their own research interests in relation to Cottbus. The subsequent city tour focused on state socialist urban planning, public art, and Rudolf Sitte’s relief History of the Working Class in Cottbus. The visit concluded at the Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art, which provided insights into its collection of GDR-era art and the museum’s curatorial practices.
