Interdisciplinary module "Healthy and social living spaces of the future" in summer semester 2024

We enter spaces every day without always being aware of it. Be it the physical outdoor and teaching spaces of our university, social spaces, living spaces or even virtual worlds. Sometimes spaces are also "lost", mysterious or have even disappeared.

It is precisely this diversity of spaces that the FÜS "Healthy and social spaces of the future" is dedicated to.

We are breaking away from the previously disciplinary concept of space and looking at it from different disciplines. External lecturers from the fields of research (e.g. Sorbian Institute, Scientific Advisory Council of the Federal Government), non-profit(Housing is a Human Right, Urban District Shop) and landscape planning accompany students from the various study programmes to capture spaces in an interdisciplinary way and to get to know the object of action and the methodology of processing the respective discipline.

Each teaching day focuses on a different space and takes place at different learning locations in a varied and practical way.

  • Introduction (Campus Senftenberg)
  • Room creation / educational space in the COLab
  • Music and media rooms (Sachsendorf campus)
  • Open space / healthy design of spaces (Sachsendorf campus)
  • Social space / interdisciplinary excursions - Excursion
  • Homelessness / "other" people in public space (main campus)
  • Loss of culture and space - excursion to the Sorbian weaving room
  • Virtual spaces with the digitalization scout
  • Environmental space / Planetary Health (Campus Senftenberg)
  • Lost Places

Together we will look at how all these spaces are geared towards being healthy and social living spaces of the future and develop further questions from this. These will be recorded in a learning diary for the ten attendance dates of 6 lessons each ( 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.) and at the end will be combined with the students' own disciplinary point of view in self-chosen and, if possible, realizable project work. Students are free to choose the topic, the form of presentation of the performance verification (e.g. presentation, poster, video, architectural models, podcast) and the examination room. Trying it out is welcome!

We look forward to the third round.

Module 13756 (nominated for the BTU Teaching Award 2023)

The FÜS serves to impart specialist knowledge that goes beyond the subject-specific and discipline-related curricula. The module "Healthy and social living spaces of the future" focuses on and thrives on this inter- and transdisciplinary exchange.
