Legal Basis

Understanding the framework conditions in the doctoral process

Framework Regulations for Doctorates at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg

The Framework Regulations for Doctorates form the legal basis for doctoral procedures at BTU. They ensure that doctorates in different academic disciplines are equivalent. The version in force at the time of acceptance applies to doctoral candidates, unless they have been transferred to a new framework regulation.

Faculty Doctoral Regulations

In addition to the Framework Regulations for Doctorates, the faculties may adopt supplementary, subject-specific regulations.

Supervision Agreement

With the supervision agreement, the relationship between doctoral candidates and supervisors can be arranged transparently for both sides in terms of topic and time. The conclusion of a supervision agreement is mandatory.

Tip: The Network QualitätsZirkel Promotion (QZP) has published the handbook "Shaping the Doctorate Together - Guidelines for Doctoral Candidates and Supervisors". It is intended to provide suggestions for the preparatory, working and final phases of doctorates and to sharpen the understanding of all those involved for organisational issues, problems, technical details and support measures during the individual phases and stages of a doctorate:

Good Scientific Practice

All individuals engaged in research work at BTU are obliged to make the provisions of the “Statute Statutes for Safeguarding Good Research Practice and for Dealing with Allegations of Research Misconduct” the basis of their research activities and to actively contribute to the prevention and investigation of research misconduct within their field of expertise.
