Paul Hamelbeck, M.Sc.
I studied Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University, Germany. I then specialized in control engineering in the thermal field through a double master’s program between RWTH Aachen and Tsinghua University, China. During this time, I also spent a semester at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), where I focused on additional coursework in machine learning and data science. I completed degrees in Thermal Engineering at Tsinghua University and Automation Engineering at RWTH Aachen in autumn 2024. In January 2025, I joined the Chair of Control Systems and Network Control Technology at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus–Senftenberg (BTU). I also work at the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Energy Infrastructures and Geothermal Systems (IEG) in the areas of energy management and control.
My research focuses on the integration of modern machine learning methods with traditional control theory guarantees, such as stability and robustness.
