Dr. Tim Rottleb
Tim Rottleb arbeitet seit Januar 2025 als Postdoc am Fachgebiet VWL, insbesondere Makroökonomik, der Brandenburgischen Technischen Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg. Er studierte an der Philipps-Universität Marburg Middle Eastern Studies mit dem Schwerpunkt Politikwissenschaften (B.A.), sowie den Studiengang Politik und Wirtschaft des Nahen und Mittleren Ostens (M.A). Im Jahr 2024 promovierte er an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin im Fach Geographie mit der Note Summa cum Laude. Frühere akademische Stationen beinhalten das Leibiniz-Institut für Raumbezogene Sozialwissenschaften sowie einen Gastaufenthalt an der Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Abseits des Forschungskontexts sammelte Tim Rottleb Erfahrung als Wissenschaftsmanager im Referat Strukturwandel der BTU, sowie als Mitarbeiter diverser UN-Organisationen in Berlin und Kairo.
In seiner Dissertation beschäftigte er sich aus wirtschaftsgeographischer Perspektive mit bestimmten Entwicklungsstrategien von Regierungen in der Arabischen Golfregion, die darauf abzielen, Zweigstellen ausländischer Universitäten in speziellen Zonen anzusiedeln und als Ressource für erhoffte lokale ökonomische Transformationsprozesse nutzbar zu machen. Die Arbeit wurde 2024 mit dem Preis der Deutschen Arbeitsgemeinschaft Vorderer Orient für gegenwartsbezogene Forschung und Dokumentation (DAVO) für die beste deutsch- oder englischsprachige Dissertation aus dem Bereich der gegenwartsbezogenen "Orientforschung" ausgezeichnet.
